Bootcamp Challenge Workout #1 "ASTC Fernando Jorge"

20LB Medicine Ball carried on a 3 mile run.

Run at 80 to 85% of your max, full stride.

Every 1/4 mile conduct:

10 granny tosses

10 push ups with hands on ball balanced

10 push ups with feet on ball balanced

History: "Nando" was one of my closest friends, going through school together, our first tour of duty at Air Station Houston, Texas, and pushing each other past our limits both physically and academically. Fernando was killed in a helicopter crash, CG6535, on February 28th, 2012.

Bootcamp Challenge Workout #2 "AST2 Christian Tate"

  • 5 Push Ups single leg supported on medicine ball
  • no rest into 4 single leg body weight piston squats
  • no rest into 3 Pull Ups
  • no rest into side lateral plank, one leg support, arm raised towards ceiling, elbow supported for 20 seconds
  • no rest. Complete 6 sets then 2 min rest.

10 sprints broken down like this:

  • 2 left side lateral sled pull
  • 2 right side lateral sled pull
  • 2 reverse sled pulls
  • 2 forward sled pushes
  • 2 bear crawl forward sled pulls
  • On the sleds, use a heart rate monitor to set your pace. After each sprint, allow your heart rate come down to 70% before the next sprint. If you don’t use a HR monitor then go off a 30 second rest.

History: Tate was one of my swimmer brothers I went to school with back in the summer of 1995. He was one of the hardest dudes I’ve ever known. His confidence and mental toughness tilted the scales. Tate was a little too hard and eventually left the Coast Guard to become a Hells Angel. Tate was shot and killed in Laughlin Nevada. This workout will be one of the toughest to accomplish mentally since Tate was mentally tough as nails.
