Mindset

I believe, the most important element in our daily lives is to be mentally focused. Have internal mental drive and an attitude that you'll never quit is key to success.

I would have never made it to day three in Helicopter Rescue Swimmer School if it weren't for my mental focus and mental fortitude to overcome all obstacles.

Breathing

Take a breather break. It's amazing how your body responds to simply paying attention to your breathing for 2 minutes. As some take smoke breaks, take a breather break, go for a short walk or simply find a quiet place to sit and breathe in for 4 seconds, hold it for 8, and release for a 10 count. Breathing techniques can keep you focused and centered throughout your day.

Clean Eating

I know it's easy to say and much harder to live, but if you're truly going to make real gains and succeed you must eat a proper balance of foods throughout the day and week. I don't care what fad diet says carbs are bad and load up on as much protein as possible, it's about a complete balance of Complex Carbs, Complete Proteins, and Good Fats. I also highly suggest daily fiber and berries added to your meal plan.

Meditational Yoga

Take it a step further and get into some meditational yoga or bikram yoga (hot yoga). Keeping a strict center of balance in your life is key to success for truly living in the "Here and Now". Living in a balance state of mind everyday requires a prescription that works for your particular life. This means you may need to re-organize and prioritize what's truly important to you for real change to be made.

Regeneration

Recharging your battery is an absolute. But we require a bit more than just rest to help us recharge and stay focused day in and day out. Post stretches, time to yourself to reflect, quality time with the family, and even getting a full body message is just a few things we should incorporate in our lives. Staying hydrated, properly fueled, and emotionally balanced throughout the day will also set you up for success and help you recharge daily.

Good Hard Exercise

High metabolic output 3 to 5 times a week should be an absolute in your training. I said high metabolic not high impact and heavy weights. There are times when you will hit high impact and go heavy but not every time you do high metabolic. To keep your Central Nervous System (CNS) in proper functioning order it's a must to perform high metabolic exercise. There are many other benefits by developing your energy system such as defending against diseases and increasing your oxygen supply. Push yourself to exhaustion but be conscious of form.

Living in Awareness

This is where you bring it all together and live in a state above the rest. You're walking the walk and talking the talk. Your body is running on all cylinders, you've added a supercharger to your engine, and filling the tank with quality gas. You're looking great on the outside, balanced on the inside, and focused. You are now walking around untouchable, like when someone throws black paint in the air, it never touches the air but lands on everything else. This is where you really make some real progress.
